First of all, the expectation of the beneficiaries is that the amount will be paid in December. The project for the payment of the 14th salary has been discussed in the Chamber of Deputies, by bill 4367/2020. One of the main reasons for the delay in approving the extra salary payment project is the lack of definition of funding sources.
The project's attempt is to provide yet another financial aid to retirees and pensioners who had their 13th salary advanced due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Now, they find themselves without income in the final phase of the year.
If the text is approved, those who are insured by the INSS and receive benefits such as a death pension, retirement and sickness, accident and imprisonment benefits will be entitled to the 14th salary.
Those who receive the Benefit of Continued Payment, the BPC, are not entitled to receive the 14th salary. Thus, if the project is approved, the 14th salary will be paid in March 2022 and March 2023. That is, it still takes time for beneficiaries to be able to count on the extra salary.
The forecast is that the maximum amount to be paid will be up to two minimum wages. If the project is approved, more than R$ 39.26 billion will be spent next year alone.
In addition, one of the reasons that hinder the approval of the bill is the allocation of resources to cover the 14th salary. Now the bill goes to the Constitution, Justice and Citizenship Committee and then to a vote in the Senate. Finally, the 14th salary payment project will be sanctioned by President Jair Bolsonaro.
