The elephant was very kind and affectionate towards all the inhabitants of the jungle. In return, he received the love and esteem of all those who had been cured by his remedies.
In fact, the elephant had set up a laboratory in the basement of his house, and was constantly experimenting with new chemical substances, desiring to put an end to the pain and illness of the animals.
Little by little, he was getting more powerful and harmless medicines for his health. Over the years, there was hardly any disease to resist him, such was his wisdom and common sense.
The elephant then fell seriously ill. His disease could not be treated with drugs, as old age is a natural process. Realizing that his death was approaching, he took all necessary precautions.
— Here, Felizino! he told his servant, a very friendly and helpful cat. These are the formulas you will need to continue making drugs in the laboratory, as long as you want to continue my work, of course.
— That's what I lacked, elephant friend! I will continue to do the same as you, as long as I can: cure the sick and comfort the sad! replied Felizino in a burst of tenderness.
The elephant died sweetly, but its memory will remain alive forever throughout the jungle, because whoever does good ensures its immortality and the love of all people.
