As it is very valuable, the Spix's Macaw was the target of wild animal trafficking and hunting. The destruction of the environment was also one of the causes for its extinction in nature.
As it is now extinct, specimens of the Spix's Macaw can only be found with breeders and the largest breeder and breeder of this species. in the world is located in Rüdersdorf, a small German municipality with just over 15,000 inhabitants and located 26 kilometers from Berlin. There, there are 146 of the approximately 160 Hyacinth macaws that exist in the world.
