The list has 39 banks from all over the world that reached assets above the range of US$ 100 billion. When listing them, the closing of the fiscal year in December 2021 was considered, with American banks leading the top. They are Capital One, with ROE of 20.4%, and Ally Financial, with 19.3%.
Not far behind is the Santander Brasil, which already stands out in the country as the bank with the highest profitability for the fourth consecutive year. At the end of 2021, the institution reached third place in the world list, with ROE of 18.9%. Your competitors,

Despite Santander having significantly increased its ROE in relation to the previous decade, the other three large Brazilian banks had the opposite result. Amarelinho managed to double its rate of return between 2016 and 2021. Meanwhile, there has been a pretty big drop in Return on Equity over the years, while Americans have also grown.
Even when it comes to the medium, Brazilian banks have always been more profitable than the main banks in the United States. In 2010, there was a difference of 8.3 percentage points, which has halved in the last ten years.
