The plenary of the Chamber of Deputies rejected, this Wednesday (10/07), the amendment by deputy Wellington Roberto (PL-PB) to the proposal for the reform of the Social Security (PEC 6/19). The highlight intended exempt teachers from reform changes, maintaining the current rules for these professionals in kindergarten and high school, both in the public and private sectors.
The intention was to maintain the main current rule, which concerns the time of contribution, 25 years for women and 30 for men. The proposal was rejected receiving 265 votes in favor, when at least 308 were needed.

While two deputies abstained from the vote, 184 deputies voted in favor of the minimum age requirement, 60 years for men and 57 for women, foreseen in the base text already approved. For public servants, the rules are the same, with the requirement of at least 10 years of public service and 5 in office.
Voting began shortly after the approval in the first round – by 379 votes to 131 – of the basic text of the Social Security reform, presenting new rules for retirement and pensions.
The text increases the time to retire, limits the benefit to the average of all salaries, increases the rates contribution for those earning above the INSS ceiling and establishes transition rules for current employees. Capitalization (individual savings) and retirement of small producers and rural workers were not affected.
There are still several highlights to be analyzed, but that does not mean that all will necessarily be voted on. They can happen to be withdrawn at any time by the authors or not even be voted on if similar proposals have been voted on before.
Tomorrow, for example, the deputies will vote on the highlight proposed by the PDT, which reduces the minimum age by two years and the contribution time of teachers by five.
