1. Soccer country
Surely you've heard someone say that this is the country of football. Well, that nickname didn't fall into our laps for nothing. In addition to leading the ranking of the teams that have won the most World Cups – with five titles –, we also we are the only team to have qualified and played in all editions of the world cup since its inception in 1930.
2. coffee country
You probably already suspected that, after all, what Brazilian isn't passionate about coffee? One of people's favorite hot drinks couldn't be off the list. Regarding exports, the country was responsible for more than 40 million bags with 60 kg of coffee in 2021.
This makes us the largest grain exporter in the world.
3. foreign population
Outside their countries of origin, São Paulo concentrates the largest populations of people who came from Portugal, Italy and Japan. The São Paulo megalopolis is one of the world's centers of development. This makes it attractive for people from all over the world to look for job opportunities there.
4. São Paulo is not the oldest city in Brazil
Despite being the biggest city of the country in terms of development, it was not the first Brazilian municipality. In fact, this title belongs to another, but also from the state of São Paulo. We are talking about São Vicente, located on the coast, right next to Santos.
Historians report that the first records of São Vicente date back to the year 1532. This makes it the oldest city in Brazil.
5. Biodiversity
The various Brazilian biomes favor us, but it is the Amazon forest that guarantees us leadership among the countries with the greatest biodiversity. Unfortunately, we also lead the ranking of deforestation and fires.
6. Amazon rainforest
Our main forest is also shared with Peru and Colombia. And not only with them! In smaller numbers, also with Ecuador, Bolivia, Guianas, Venezuela and Suriname. Anyway, around 60% of its entire area is located in Brazilian lands.
7. Brazil already had 3 different capitals
The first of these was Salvador, Bahia, but only from 1549 to 1763. After that, the title was transferred to Rio de Janeiro. The city that served as home to the royal family for several generations was the Brazilian capital for almost 200 years, but everything changed in 1960. Brasilia was named the capital on April 21, 1960 and has been ever since.
8. native languages
Brazil had more than a thousand dialects and native languages before Portuguese colonization. Today, less than 200 of these languages are still spoken. It is a significant loss of the original languages of our people.
