Which children can receive the BPC?

As already mentioned, not all children are eligible to receive the BPC through the INSS. This is because the focus is on the elderly (over 65 years old) and people who have some type of disability, be it mental, physical, intellectual or sensorial.

However, please note that when it comes to these disabilities, there is no specific age limit. Thus, it is regulated by Article 4 of Decree No. 6,214 of 2007 that children and adolescents can and should receive the BPC, if they need it.

How to apply for BPC for children and adolescents?

To request the BPC, it is necessary that the child has a registration in the CadÚnico, carried out in the units of the CRAS (Reference Center for Social Assistance). Therefore, if you do not have a registration, this is the first step, and for families who already have it, it is necessary to check that it is up to date.

Remembering that, in order to carry out this registration, the family must elect a holder/responsible person who must go to CRAS and present a voter registration card and CPF. Other family members, including children, must also present some document, which can be:

  • Birth certificate;
  • Identity Card (RG);
  • CPF;
  • Work Card;
  • Voter title.

Finally, the BPC request can be made at CRAS itself, or you can still apply through the Meu INSS application. Furthermore, it is important that the family be able to prove through medical documentation that the child has a disability. So if you need help, don't hesitate.
