This aid was created by PEC Eleitoral, which has been distributing the benefit month after month to this category of drivers. This novelty is about to be announced by the government, but they still cannot inform the amount of the extra payment.
The value will be defined after the assessment to be made in December by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. This category has R$ 2 billion reserved. The extra payment will be paid with the aid campaign's own money, as a greater number of subscribers to the program was expected. But as membership was lower than expected, there was money left in the account for extra payments.
In addition to this novelty, good news for the category is that the payment schedule for this month will be brought forward. Drivers would receive the amount on October 22nd, but now with the advance, they will receive it on October 18th.
Although the benefit is also available to truck drivers, only taxi drivers will receive the extra installment, because the PEC does not define the number of them. For example, in August the amounts referring to the months of July and August were deposited, being paid in an installment of R$ 2 thousand.
For truck drivers, the agreement was to receive six installments of one thousand reais, with the total budget for this action being R$7 billion. What remains of this amount after the stipulated time must be returned to the National Treasury.
With the taxi drivers, adding up to now the three paid lots, the government disbursed R$ 877.3 million for a total of 297,294 workers. As for truck drivers, R$ 1.032 billion has been spent so far, benefiting 360,712 drivers. Truck drivers will receive three more installments for the months of October, November and December.
