Among the differences with the current model, the new format will include an increase in teaching hours year, reformulation of the curricular grid and will even have changes in the objective of secondary education itself in yes.
What was previously seen as preparation for the National Teaching Examination (ENEM) to enter higher education, now it will be focused on entering the work. This is because this school stage will be integrated with technical courses that will make the student finish school with a diploma in a specific area.
Public and private networks will have to increase the hours of classes dedicated to secondary education starting this school year. The time in the classroom that used to be, on average, 4 hours a day, will now be 5 hours a day. In this sense, at the end of the year, the student will have completed one thousand teaching hours, an increase of 200 hours compared to the previous format.
By 2024, when the first group of the new high school will graduate, students will have attended 3,000 hours of classes.
Another big change in the new model that comes into force this year is the reformulation of the curriculum. The disciplines will be divided into areas of knowledge, the way it has already been done in the National High School Examination (Enem) and other entrance exams. Are they:
These areas will have all the disciplines currently worked on. With that, none of them will be left out of teaching.
This is yet another novelty that will be introduced in the new high school format in 2022. The so-called “life project” is a transversal component that will be offered in schools to help teenagers understand their aspirations and skills, as if it were a type of guidance.
The project aims to help students understand what they want to study in higher education, while understanding how the school can help them achieve this goal.
The training itineraries will also be part of the new model that can be applied in 2022. They will be optional, chosen according to the student's wishes and the school's offer. Institutions will be able to offer classes as of this year, but they will only be mandatory in 2023.
In addition, these classes will aim to deepen the student in the four areas of knowledge and in technical and professional training.
