The subsecretariat for Promotion of Civic-Military Schools (Secim) aims to expand the education offered by military schools in Brazil. According to Secim undersecretary, Márcia Amarílio, the new model will be installed on demand and intends to restore discipline and organization. The focus will be on public schools with greater social vulnerability.
“With the civic-military model, the school changes its uniform and its infrastructure. That is, the physical facilities to serve the program, and also the administrative management, which is now done by the military”, explains Márcia. “The management of the didactic-pedagogical organization continues to be carried out by civilian teachers.”

The implementation of the model depends on demand from the country's Education departments. They are the ones who should go to MEC and point out which schools could receive Secim's project.
The military that will be deployed to meet the demand of the school that joined the program need to adapt, as well as teachers and principals. To this end, Secim will hold courses to adapt the school to the project.
“We are going to offer training courses for the military precisely in this area of school management, as well as well as for civilian teachers, because they also need to adapt to this new model”, he points out. Marcia.
“We believe that this type of training will minimize this clash. That is, the military will come to understand better about the school community and the civilian will better understand how the military works. This will bring harmony into the system.”
