Under study in the Chamber of Deputies, the text amends the legislation on income tax for individuals (Law 9,250/95).
Author of the proposal, deputy Luiz Antônio Corrêa (PL-RJ), explains that the current legislation allows the deduction with expenses incurred in the purchase of medicines, provided that these amounts are included in bills hospital.
¨On the other hand, when the taxpayer buys the medication directly from pharmacies, the legislation does not allow the deduction, even if the purchaser has a medical prescription¨, he says.
Bill 585/22 will be analyzed conclusively by the Commissions for the Defense of the Rights of the Elderly Person; Finance and Taxation; Constitution and Justice and Citizenship.
