Government's role in society

During the times of tribal leaders and early monarchs, the government had a 'Laissez-faire' policy, meaning that the government had a duty only to defend its people and land. Over time, however, the duties that were supposed to be carried out by the governing parties became increasingly complicated.

Greek, Roman, Harappan, Egyptian, and Babylonian civilizations all had governments that had a system fantastic of governance, which helped them deal with all possible problems even in life everyday.

Military Duties

Throughout history, rulers have been expected to protect their people from foreign aggression. With the concept of the ruling class becoming history, responsibility was passed to the government. He filled the void left by these rulers.

Military duties increased substantially, as several new components such as foreign affairs, alliances, treaties, and weapons development also came into being. The government's military duties are extremely important due to the fact that they ensure the integrity of the nation. Therefore, they help civilization, economic activity and internal social components.

civic amenities

Human habitation of a particular area or land requires basic amenities such as sanitation, hygiene and a safe environment in which to live. It is the government's responsibility to ensure that these civic amenities are made available to the people.

Education

Education is a deep need of any human society as it makes humanity rational, intellectually enriched and thoughtful. Therefore, to complete all elements of society, the government must provide proper education to all. Everyone in society needs to think, and food for thought is derived from knowledge.

Justice and Administration

In order to avoid chaos in society, it is essential to have laws in place. Laws ranging from small unspoken rules, like standing in line for the bus, to complex ones, like tax laws.

This function, also known as the judicial function, helps society run smoothly. It also encompasses the role of government in business, as the increasing volume of economic activity demands good business laws for governance.
