Over the years, it is natural for brands to give their product catalog a makeover. That's why some products go out of line and stop being manufactured or marketed. After 15 years of history, the Renault Sandero will be discontinued in Brazil. It is important to remember that this is one of the brand's most popular cars, but it is now betting big on more expensive and sophisticated models.

The model will become Renault's flagship after Sandero leaves Brazilian markets. It's impossible not to regret that one of the Brazilian's favorite cars is going out of production. The announcement was made to the press through the launch of Stepway 1.0, which replaces the Sandero S Edition. From now on, the Brazilian market will only have models that are already stocked at dealerships available for sale.
Despite the sad news, the end was already expected, especially if we analyze the sales history in recent years. Since 2019, Sandero sales have been low in the country. This fall occurred shortly after the peak to which the model reached. At the time, the car was produced in versions 1.0, 1.6 with CVT exchange and the sports RS.
In 2020, the CVT exchange version was removed from the lines due to low adherence. The following year, Renault withdrew another version from the Brazilian markets: the Sandero 1.6. It was noticeable that soon the model could be extinct.
The French brand, after having reduced the versions of the car, was only marketing the special series S Edition. With the launch of Stepway 1.0 this month, the company ends Sandero's life cycle in Brazil.
The initial cost of Stepway reaches R$ 77,990. On the other hand, the launch of the S Edition was initially made for R$ 83,190. This difference in prices began to be seen as something negative.
The next model that will probably be in the sights of the French company is the Captur, which has already given some indications that it will not survive much longer. This measure was also taken, as Renault is going to reposition its brand in Latin America.
The next launches should be more expensive and refined cars. It is bet that the company will go all out in SUV models, since even the Kwid – its smallest car – is sold as the “SUV of compacts”.
