How much does law school cost?

The first edition of the 2018 Unified Selection System (Sisu 2018/1) indicated the Law course among the most sought after graduations. In the second half edition (Sisu 2018/2), more than 1,400 vacancies were made available throughout the country.

How is the law course?

The Law degree lasts five years, during which it offers a degree that emphasizes the Human Sciences. In the first three years, he has theoretical classes involving Sociology, Portuguese Language, Economics, Theory of the State, Constitutional Law, Civil, Criminal, Commercial and Forensic Medicine.

When moving on to practical work, the student acts as a lawyer or judge in mock trials. In the fifth year, the student chooses specific disciplines in the formation of the career he wants to follow, in addition to the direction for the specialization. The course totals 4,500 hours, 62% of which are covered by compulsory subjects.

Practical activities, that is, multidisciplinary projects and legal practice clinics occupy 20% of the load while the electives (optional subjects, study groups, research and extension) are left with 18%. The student also needs to complete the hours of complementary activities and deliver the Course Completion Work (TCC).

During the course, the student must also fulfill the mandatory workload related to the internship. This can be accomplished both in field activities and in model college offices, private offices, public bodies, companies and third sector entities.

How is a career in law?

The Bachelor of Law has the duty to ensure the harmony and correctness of relations between citizens, companies and public power. The law course gives the professional a range of career options. The most popular, without a doubt, is that of a lawyer, whose function is to defend the interests of a client.

Advocacy requires registration with the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB). The Bachelor of Law can also act as a delegate, officer of the Military Police, judge, defender or public prosecutor.
