See or Fill? Is it with X or CH? See how to spell

The word in question is a verb and refers to perceiving vision, reaching with the sight, noticing, observing, seeing or sighting. Also, it can refer to foreseeing or seeing in advance.

The correct form is to see, with “X”. The word with “CH” does not apply.

X or CH

Confusion between the consonant X and the digraph CH is very common. However, there are some rules that define which and when to use.

Taking into account the word ver, it is important to know that the X must be used after the initial syllable “en”: ver, hoe, swarm, trousseau. But, there is an exception for the words soak and fill.

The verb ver, as well as all its conjugated forms, must be written with “X”.

When to use X

  • After initial syllables “en” (to see, swarm). With the exception of stuffing and soaking
  • After the initial syllable “me” (to move, Mexican, tangerine)
  • After diphthongs (box, fish, beam)
  • In words of indigenous, African or English origin (pineapple, shampoo, sheriff)
