Research says that those who usually share their fitness routine on social networks suffer from some psychological disorder.
According to the researchers, the main purpose that leads people to post such content is to praise themselves for how much time they spend taking care of their appearance. The same ones tend to be narcissistic, as they often brag about diets and their gains.
To carry out the study, psychologists at Brunel University interviewed Facebook users and examined personality traits. In addition, they investigated the motivations that influenced their publications on the social network. 555 users of the social network participated in the study, in which 5 personality traits were measured, such as extroversion, neuroticism, openness, kindness and conscientiousness.
The authors also found that this type of post on Facebook accumulates more likes than the others. However, according to Dr. Tara Marshal, it is possible that the likes do not mean that, in fact, people have liked the publication, but rather as a way of showing support for an insecurity perceived by them.
