Last Saturday (1st), a doctor from Fortaleza, capital of Ceará, fell into a coup unprecedented in Brazil. Upon leaving a birthday that she attended with her husband, Cinthia Braga noticed that one of her license plates was gone.
Later, the doctor found a handwritten note inside the vehicle, in which the criminal who stole the license plate requested R$100 to return it. The scammer also specified that he would like to receive the money via PIX.

Evidently surprised by what happened, Cintia reports that at first she thought it was an April Fool's joke, a date informally known as "fool's day".
However, the case was serious. On the ticket, the thief wrote expressions like “your license plate back” and tried to coerce the owner of the vehicle to pay for the redemption of the license plate, in order to avoid inconvenience and charges to get a new one plate.
Finally, the scammer's message ended with the promise of "immediate return" after payment.
After the initial surprise, Cinthia Braga decided, together with her husband, to contact the criminal to try to recover the plate.
The doctor reports that, during the conversation, the scammer asked what the license plate number was, which suggests that he could have plates that were stolen from other vehicles.
Cinthia then said that she would transfer R$50 to the criminal so that he could leave the sign in the restaurant where the theft took place. However, the crook's response was negative.
The suspicious victim replied that she could not send the money before receiving the card back, as the scammer did not appear to be trustworthy.
Unsuccessful in an attempt to recover the stolen item, the doctor filed a police report. Despite this, Cinthia stated that, because she was not robbed, the damage was not so great, so she would move on with her life.
