Pythagoras became a great thinker and it is widespread that he was one of the students of Thales of Miletus.
He founded an important sect, which would later give rise to the Pythagorean School. The sect was very private and its members would always have to follow Pythagorean thoughts and knowledge.
The main objective of the sect was the purification of the soul through study, knowledge and thought.
In this group, various topics were studied that were mixed with religious doctrine.
Some of Pythagoras' students were Themistocleia, Philolaus of Crotona, Archytas of Tarentum, Alcmaeon and Melissa.
The main contributions and legacies of the thinker are his discoveries in the mathematical field, such as the theory that became known as Pythagorean theorem.
He claimed that all natural elements were governed by numerical orders, numbers were considered the essence of all things. Thus, the universe and its origin were related to mathematics.
Furthermore, Pythagoras carried out great studies in music, so that he discovered harmonies of musical chords and calculated the difference between notes in scales.
Thinking in the spiritual sphere, the pre-Socratic thinker and his followers, claimed that souls could reincarnate in a higher existence, corresponding to the virtues conquered in life.
That is, they believed in the liberation of the soul and reincarnation after death.
