Canada offers salary of R$ 20,000 for Teachers

Canada does not have a central government body in charge of monitoring and dictating the rules and standards regarding education in the country.

Instead, education is the responsibility of provinces and territories. It works like this: each subdivision has a Department of Education, which dictates valid rules and standards for the region's educational system, thinking about what is best for regional communities.

The Department of Education of each province decides the rules such as the mandatory age for children and teenagers to attend school.

Remembering that schooling is mandatory in all provinces. The age at which this obligation exists is what varies in the country, generally starting at 5-7 years old, and being mandatory until the 16 -18 years, or until completion of secondary education – which contributes to a literacy rate of over 99% in the Canada.

Still, an estimated 94% of Ontario students attend public schools. As a result of investments in education, Canada is among the top ten countries in the world with the best performance in the ranking of the Program for International Student Assessment, PISA, as it is known in the acronym in English.

Teacher appreciation

The average salary of Canadian public school educators in the Ontario region, where the city of Toronto is located, is BRL 20 thousand per month.

However, unlike Canada, Brazil pays one of the worst salaries in the world to its teachers. And, recently, it blocked R$5.7 billion in funds for all stages of education. In the last edition of PISA, Brazil ranked 63rd among 70 countries evaluated.
