Maps are visual representations of a region and also of the world. from cartography, it is possible to have the dimension and location of the countries, states and cities that, perhaps, we want to visit or just know where they are. However, these are purely graphic illustrations and would certainly be much more interesting if they took into account the cultural aspects of each people.
And isn't it that they invented maps that consider exactly that? In fact, they went further and took into account the classic literature created in each country, in addition to gastronomy, that is, two champions in representing the customs of a nation. The sites Taste Atlas and Reddit jumped on the bandwagon of representing geographic maps in a creative way and the results couldn't be better.

O Taste Atlas is a collection created to illustrate the gastronomic variety that so many countries offer. The representations point out the local dishes of each place, including the most peculiar and unknown ones. The most interesting thing is that the indices go beyond the most known cuisine and include particularities, such as ingredients, recommended restaurants, most consumed street foods, dumplings and even cheeses.
The user can enter the desired country already on the start screen. When indicating Brazil, for example, a scroll bar provided access by state and types of food. If you choose Pernambuco, the map takes you to the traditional bolo de rolo, tidy, tareco, and head of the rooster, where you can try these delicacies. It's just not worth accessing the map hungry, otherwise it's a lot of torture!
Reddit's idea, in turn, was to propose a contest for the creation of original maps, Map Porn. One of the most interesting (and the ideas were very original) was the one suggested by the user Backforward24. He brought a map with literature classics representing each country, illustrating them with their respective covers. Dom Casmurro was chosen as the Brazilian work.
In addition to the map suggested by the user, the contest also brought other interesting ones. It has options for school holidays across Europe, earthquakes around the world, religions, electoral maps, among many others. To travel the world in a different way, you can click on the project website get to know a little about each country. Who knows, maybe an idea comes up and suggests yours?
