According to Leonardo - the accused of the crime -, the two would have fought because the victim would have used emergency aid to buy food and the man wanted to buy alcoholic beverages, and in the midst of the fight, Marlene tried to attack him with a knife and when trying to disarm her, he used the weapon to strike her in the neck.
The trial of the case took place last Wednesday (9) and Leonardo was sentenced to 19 years and three months in prison. The jurors recognized the qualifier of futile motivation for the crime and also that of femicide, as the Sentencing Council recognized that the man committed the crime for sexist reasons and domestic violence.
Judge Robledo Moraes Peres de Almeida decreed that preventive detention be maintained, and Leonardo is still imprisoned in the São Raimundo Nonato penitentiary. The trial took place in the Caracol forum, which is 606 km from Teresina.
Marlene left three children, who are now 7, 10 and 12 years old.
