The agency maintains direct relations with the UN (United Nations Organization), which is a company with the objective of facilitating the cooperation in terms of international law and security, economic development, social progress, human rights and peace worldwide.

Annually, representatives of these nations meet for a General Conference in which they elect 35 members. to the Board of Governors, responsible for preparing the decisions that will be ratified by the Conference General.

As several countries have technologies aimed at generating nuclear energy and producing atomic weapons (many even have these weapons), it is essential that there be a supervisory body for the control and inspection of this type of energy.
