Nearing the end of the first semester, more specifically to the second Sunday of May, we celebrate the Mothers Day. The commemorative date was created by means of a decree signed by Getúlio Vargas, in 1932.
However, in other countries the celebration already existed. O Mothers Day would have started its celebrations in the United States, by an initiative of Anna Jarvis, as a way to honor the death of her mother, the activist Ann Jarvis.

Although Ann died in 1905, it is believed that the official celebration took place in 1914, with the endorsement of US President Woodrow Wilson.
In addition to that date, in antiquity other festivities took place due to the praise of the mother figure.
