Natural number division exercises

Dividing is nothing more than dividing a quantity into equal parts, so the division is such a common and useful mathematical operation.

Many math problems that may seem complicated at first are solved only with division accounts.

List of natural number division exercises

Question 1. The prize for a dance championship is R$10,000.00. The amount will be divided equally among the members of the winning team. If a team has 5 people, how much will each get paid if they win?

Question 2. How many 500 ml bottles can be filled with 24 liters of water?

Question 3. A seamstress received an order for 150 pieces to be produced in 30 days. If she decides to produce the same amount each day, how many parts per day should she produce?

Question 4. How many dozen eggs are there in 936 eggs?

Question 5. A school is going to hire some buses for a tour. There are 378 students and each bus has a maximum capacity of 50 people. How many buses should the school hire to take all the students without the same bus making more than one trip?

Question 6. 1245 books from one library will be transferred to another unit. They will be shipped in boxes that hold up to 100 books. How many boxes will be needed to transport all the books?

Question 7. A refrigerator costs R$ 4,680.00 and will be paid in 18 equal installments. What is the value of each installment?

Question 8. A box comes with exactly 10 pencils. How many boxes can be formed with 1368 pencils.

Question 9. How many groups of three students can be formed in a class of 47 students?

Question 10. A bill of R$ 225.00 will be divided equally between three friends. How much will each of them pay?

Resolution of question 1

We divide the prize by the total number of team members:

10.000: 5 = 2.000

Therefore, if the team wins, each will receive R$ 2,000.00.

Resolution of question 2

24 liters of water corresponds to 24,000 ml of water, so let's divide that amount by the capacity of each bottle:

24.000: 500 = 48

This means that 48 bottles of 500 ml can be filled with 24 liters of water.

Resolution of question 3

Let's divide the number of pieces by the number of days:

150: 30 = 5

Therefore, the seamstress must produce 5 pieces per day.

Resolution of question 4

Each dozen contains 12 eggs, so let's divide the total eggs by 12:

936: 12 = 78

So there are 78 dozen in 936 eggs.

Resolution of question 5

Let's divide the number of students by the maximum capacity of people on each bus:

378: 50 = 7 and the remainder of the division is 28.

This means that the school will have to hire 8 buses, 7 of which will go with 50 students each, and the last one, with the 28 students that remain.

Resolution of question 6

We divide the number of books by the capacity of each box:

1245: 100 = 12 and the remainder is 45.

Therefore, at least 13 boxes will be needed to transport all the books, 12 of which will be completely full and the last one will hold the remaining books, 45.

Resolution of question 7

Let's divide the price of the fridge by the total installments:

4680: 18 = 260

Therefore, each installment will be R$ 260.00.

Resolution of question 8

We divide the number of pencils by the number of pencils in each box:

1368: 10 = 136 and the remainder is 8.

Therefore, 136 boxes of pencils can be formed, leaving 8 pencils that do not complete a box.

Resolution of question 9

Let's divide the total number of students by 3, since the groups are made up of three students:

47: 3 = 15 and the remainder is 2.

This means that 15 groups with three students each can be formed and there are two students left without a group.

Resolution of question 10

We divide the account value between the total number of friends:

225: 3 = 75

Therefore, each friend will pay R$75.00.
