The federal government is restructuring the sector's policy, creating a working group to reconstitute the National Commission for Agroecology and Organic Production and an interministerial committee for Agroecology. In addition, the Food Acquisition Program (PAA) was relaunched, facilitating government purchase of products from family farmers and small rural producers, with an overprice of up to 30% for products agroecological.
Experts emphasize the importance of ensuring good nutrition through a healthy and diverse diet, not just increasing the amount of food consumed. Agroecology is identified as a production model capable of ensuring the supply of healthy food in Brazil, provided there is investment and incentives on the part of the government.
The articulation between government, civil society and entities of the sector, such as the National Articulation of Agroecology (ANA) and the Associação Brasileira de Agroecologia (ABA), is essential to achieve this goal and ensure the food and nutritional security of the population Brazilian. The expansion of agroecological practices faces challenges such as the advance of agribusiness and the use of pesticides.
The government's commitment to promoting agroecology and family farming must be translated into public policies and programs that encourage agroecological production and strengthen the sector.
At the same time, it is necessary to make the population aware of the importance of a healthy and sustainable diet, improving the health and quality of life of Brazilians and preserving the environment.
