O Whatsapp decided to punish those who didn't update their operating system in over six years or didn't buy a new device, causing the app to no longer work.
The change will affect cell phones Android with operating system 2.3.7 or earlier and iPhone with iOS 7 or older version. This will occur because the company no longer considers them interesting to host its platform.

The measure includes old models such as Samsung Galaxy S3, Nokia S40, Windows Phone with operating system 8.0 and Blackberry 10, Google's Galaxy Nexus or Sony Xperia S. In the case of the iPhone, the iPhone 3G, 3GS or iPhone 4 will be affected.
"On the following platforms, it is not possible to create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts," the company said in an updated article on its Q&A site.
“However, if you already use WhatsApp, you can continue to use it until February 2020.”
In case of windows phone, Microsoft made its bets in 2010 on the device but was unsuccessful. According to the traffic analysis website Statcounter, only 0.24% of the world's phones use it.
If you're one of the few who still use the Windows Phone operating system, you'll have until December 31st to enjoy Whatsapp. After that date, the app will no longer be available on the Windows online store, the Microsoft Store.
Although Whatsapp itself has not released a list of affected devices, it is possible to check if yours will be impacted, or even update the operating system, when possible.
In the case of Android, access the “Settings” menu of your device and look for the section “About the device” and then “Info.software”, where you will find the version of the operating system that is installed.
If you have an iPhone, in settings, look for the “General” option in the “Settings” menu and click on “About” to check your iOS version.
