Write&Improve is an interactive tool and allows the user to choose the writing level, from beginner to advanced.
At the beginner level, there are simpler topics, such as an introductory email and a description of everyday life; in the middle, the topics start to get more complex, addressing problems with luggage loss to problems caused by the lack of Internet connection; finally, the advanced level, the themes are in-depth and with more demanding constructions, such as the analysis of a service.
Once the text is ready, just click and send and, in a matter of seconds, the text will appear corrected on the screen at the side, with the general evaluation and suggestions, for example, about incoherent spellings and constructions, the missing pronouns and the little words used.
With the information, the person can redo the writing and submit it to a new correction. Progress is evaluated by a graph that counts the number of times the content has been rewritten, as well as the evolution of the levels.
These follow the international parameters of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which classifies the domain in levels, from A1 (basic) to C2 (full proficiency).
Technology is increasingly present in education. Therefore, the online and free tool allows working on particular difficulties and needs.
“Write&Improve is a very democratic tool in this sense. It helps people identify their most common mistakes and engages and motivates them to practice to improve their weaknesses; it supports teachers and schools in their day-to-day work with students by giving them more independence to identify basic errors and is also interesting for professionals who need to communicate in English, since writing is one of the most important skills in the business world”, highlights Alberto Coast, senior assessment manager of Cambridge English Language Assessment in Brazil.
Elaborated with notions of gamification, when evolving in writing, the user of the Write&Improve is rewarded with commemorative stamps, which can be shared on the platform. Another function offered is to create a Login, password and invite other friends to follow the progress.
In addition to Write&Improve, Cambridge English Language Assessment offers the section Learning English. There are more than 80 options for free lessons with different themes.
There are also online games for students to improve their skills, such as Sing&Learn, Cambridge English FC, Shop&Drop, Monkey Puzzles, Funland and Academy Island.
