Students from the public Rio de Janeiro will be entitled to at least 20% of internship vacancies offered in governing bodies Executive and Legislative of State. Of the percentage reserved for these students, half will be allocated to black, indigenous or quilombola students.
During the selection process, the student will need to take a test, in addition to undergoing an assessment of family income, school performance and class attendance. The internship will last six months and can be renewed up to four times.

Malafaia argued that, with the measure, young people from public schools will have the opportunity to acquire knowledge and experiences through the internship, to become more competitive in the job market work.
Law 8.309/19, authored by Deputy Samuel Malafaia (DEM), was sanctioned by Governor Wilson Witzel (PSC) and published in the Official Gazette this Thursday (07).
However, Witzel vetoed the section of the project that included the Judiciary as one of those that should reserve internship vacancies for public school students. The governor justified that the measure would be unconstitutional for interfering with the separation of powers.
