The deadline for enrollment in the National High School Examination (Enem 2018) is over and students from all over Brazil are intensifying preparations for the tests applied at the end of the year.
However, one item that keeps many people up at night is how to calculate the grade obtained in the exam. For some, this procedure is very easy, however, others are a little confused when computing the points.

The calculation of the grade is necessary for use in the Unified Selection System (SiSU), Student Financing Program (Fies) and University for All (ProUni). In addition, each university can assign different weights to the tests.
Therefore, it is important not to have doubts at this point so that there is no loss of score.
There are two ways to calculate the Enem 2018 average, the simple and the complex average.
The first is the system used by most of the entrance exams and selection processes carried out by SiSU, FIES and ProUni.
To find the simple average, you need to add the scores obtained on the four tests plus writing and then divide the result by five. Example:
Writing: 700
Natural Sciences and Technologies: 650
Human Sciences and their Technologies: 630
Languages, Codes and Technologies: 750
Mathematics and its Technologies: 700
Result: 700 + 650 + 630 + 750 + 700 = 3,430 / 5 = 686
“Ah, but, the university I want to enter puts weights on the tests, how to do it’? This is the so-called complex average that, fortunately, is not so widely used by universities.
As difficult as it may seem, the calculation in this case is simple. Just multiply the grade of each test by its respective weight. Then, it is necessary to add all the results and divide by the sum of the weights of each notebook.
Example:
Matter |
Weight |
Note |
Essay |
3 |
700 |
Human Sciences |
2 |
630 |
Natural Sciences |
1 |
650 |
Languages |
2 |
750 |
Mathematics |
1 |
700 |
2100 + 1260 + 650 + 1500 + 700 = 6210 / 9 = 690
To find out how universities and programs assign weights, just check the information available on their websites, notices and terms of membership.
The individual grades are made available to the candidate approximately two months after the application of the exam.
To access, simply enter the participant's page on the official Enem 2018 website by entering your personal login and password. This will allow you to view the notes in each of the four notebooks.
The national average of Enem is 500 points. Therefore, to enter a public university or obtain funding for any of the programs, it is necessary to achieve a score above this index.
Check the score required in each program:
SiSU: here, the score varies by university. This is because each defines specific weights for each test. The variation may also depend on the desired course.
Fies: requires an average of 450 points, in addition to not allowing a zero score in the essay. Public school teachers enrolled in teaching, pedagogy or higher normal courses are exempt from this rule.
ProUni: average of 450 points, too, without zeroing the essay. Family income requirements must also be met to apply for partial or full scholarships.
Registration for Enem 2018 closed on May 18. Candidates have until the 23rd of the same month to pay the application slip.
From the 28th of May to the 3rd of June, those who wish to do so must request service by social name. The tests, in turn, will be applied on November 4th and 11th.
