In partnership with the maintainer Cruz Azul, Collaborative, an educational technology consultancy, implemented the Google Forward program solutions in the 13 units of Colégio PM. Education, and the Guarulhos, Osasco and Santo André Units are now recognized with the “Google Reference School” seal due to their innovative pedagogical practices.
Such recognition began in Guarulhos, in 2016, with the acquisition of around 1,000 Chromebooks and the certification of 11 employees on the new platform education, transforming this Unit into the 1st educational institution in the municipality to be a “Google Reference School”, as well as the 8th in the state of São Paulo and the 11th in Brazil.

Subsequently, the Osasco Unit also concluded the certification process, through the acquisition of 180 Chromebooks and 42 trained teachers and, last year, it was the turn of the Santo André Unit, with the acquisition of two Chromebook Carts for Charging and Storage with 72 equipment.
“It was a great challenge for our entire team, but we felt a lot of interest and curiosity throughout the entire development curve. learning, relevant factors for the success of the project at Colégio PM”, highlights Beni Kuhn – Founder of Collaborative.
At the Guarulhos unit, all grades use and approve the novelty at school. According to the director, after 12 years working with a computer lab, with the arrival Collaborative and Google solutions, we extinguished the room and the environment became a space digital. “Today the students gained technology and a multipurpose space to live different experiences. They don't even remember the computer classes anymore, they learn intuitively”, reports Adriana Costa Oliveira Monteiro, Director of Colégio PM – Guarulhos Units.
At the Osasco unit, children from the 4th grade already take tests and the Google for Education platform reaches the 3rd grade of high school. “We had an IT room that was transformed into a multidisciplinary space, it was a very big change, in the beginning, parents found it strange, but quickly noticed the advances in their children's learning", explains Meire Moura, coordinator of Colégio PM – Osasco Unit.
The Santo André Unit, the most recent “Google Reference School”, comments that it did not have a computer room and that the novelty transformed the daily lives of students and teachers. “The two Chromebook carts go around the school all day from room to room, depending on the subject. Students are very motivated both with Chromebooks and with the resources of Google technology, the fact of leaving a traditional classroom for a collaborative dynamic was refreshing in our school”, explains Josiano Martins de Morais, director of Colégio PM – Unidade Santo Andre.
Santo André teachers are still in the first certification module, but, according to the director, teachers came together in groups in a task force to improve knowledge of the tools. “We still have a long way to go, but we can already feel the evolution of the teachers and the satisfaction in acquiring more knowledge. Students, in turn, take home more information beyond the basics of computing and the school is much more competitive in the region”, concludes Morais de Santo André.
Among the gains achieved in schools, a significant reduction in paper and energy consumption was pointed out. “In the past, we had 40 connected machines, air conditioning, in addition to an idle space, as the computer room was only used once or twice a week”, explains Adriana Monteiro. Currently the tests are held online and students can also use Chromebooks in external experiences and classes.
The Google for Education initiative was created to provide a package of online tools that enhance the educational process. These are solutions developed to maximize the productivity of students and teachers, who can interact outside the school walls with data accessible 24 hours a day through devices connected to the Internet.
“We seek the continuous improvement of our pedagogical and management processes. After extensive market research, we understand that this transformation would be a watershed in the pursuit of excellence and alignment with market trends and the future of Education in the Brasil” explains the Cruz Azul Education Coordinator, Colonel PM Renato Penteado Perrenoud, responsible for the arrival of the Collaborative and the Google for Education platform at Colégio PM.
Regarding the involvement of teachers, Col. Perrenoud emphasizes that the key is respect for the role of teachers and their relationship with their students. “Collaborative plays a fundamental role in the process of training and consultancy in the execution, achievement and sustainability of this enormous challenge”- he concludes on the role of the Collaborative throughout process.
