The research analyzed 345 models of toothbrushes commercialized in the State of São Paulo. To ensure quality, the brushes must be soft, with a straight and flat handle, a small head (compatible with the user's age), 18 tufts (containing 80 bristles each) and 1,440 bristles in total.
The study identified problems in the shape of the handle, head and bristles of the brushes, among other aspects, which can compromise oral hygiene and cause damage to the tissues of the mouth.
The USP research is important to alert the population about the risks of using toothbrushes outside the standards required by law. It is essential that consumers are aware of the importance of the quality of toothbrushes and that require the competent authorities to strictly supervise the production and marketing standards of these products.
After all, oral hygiene is essential for our body's health and choosing a quality toothbrush is essential to ensure effective and safe brushing.
