Tasks such as consultation requests and medication referrals are just a few performed by those who perform this function. In fact, it is a position that facilitates access to the health system, which, let's face it, is insufficient and inefficient in terms of the scope of care.

However, access to such a position requires training so that it can efficiently maintain the issue of social well-being. The very execution of the activities to which the community health agent lends itself requires overcoming challenges that show the need to implement public policies that value their work.
The Ministry of Health then decided to create an online course platform aimed specifically at those who wish to enter the career of community health agents. The content of AVASUS covers basic practices of the profession, through which the candidate has access to information necessary for his daily life.
The distance learning course (Curso EaD) is provided by the Ministry of Health and can be accessed from anywhere. Among the topics addressed by Avaus are health promotion, social control of the population, in addition to improvements that can be implemented to raise the level of health in the community served.
The content, then, is extensive and, therefore, divided into 17 modules to facilitate the study. The proposal is to transmit the basic knowledge to qualify the professional without the need to leave home, free of charge. All content is worked with simple methodology including animations, videos and complementary textual materials.

The student will be evaluated continuously throughout the entire module through self-assessments at the end of each unit. In each evaluation, the student will have the opportunity to redo it and will receive a feedback on the error or success of the same at the end. Currently, around 41,377 students are enrolled in the course.
Entries can be made by the avasus website on a platform hosted by the Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN). For this, interested parties must click on the SIGN UP button and then fill out a registration form with their personal data.
In addition to the course for community agents, the Ministry of Health also offers other free courses. Among them, Clinical Management Update; Patient Safety in the Medication Process; Good practices in vaccination and Introductory Course for Agents Combating Endemic Diseases (ACE).
