Distance classes in high school will be regulated by the states

The provision of distance learning in high schools will depend on regulation in the states, according to the minister of Education, Rossieli Soares who ratified, in Brasilia, the new National Curriculum Guidelines for the teaching stage.

According to the new rules, distance schools will be able to offer up to 20% of daytime high school, up to 30% of nighttime education and up to 80% of Youth and Adult Education (EJA).

The current guidelines were revised by the CNE to adapt to the New Secondary School, approved last year.

Under the new law, students will undergo training common to the entire country, defined by the so-called National Common Curricular Base – still in development. discussion at the CNE – and for a specific training, which could be in languages, mathematics, natural sciences, human sciences or teaching technician.

According to the new rules, distance classes should preferably be given in specific training, but may also be applied in the common part.

Support

However, appropriate technological and pedagogical support is necessary. Students must necessarily be monitored and coordinated by a teacher from the school unit where they are enrolled.

The offer of EaD (Distance Learning) was a controversial point during the discussion of the new guidelines. One of the opposing arguments is that EaD violates the right to face-to-face coexistence, one of the educational rights, in addition, it can contribute to reducing the quality of teaching.

Common National Curriculum Base

Most of the guidelines will be put into practice after the approval of the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), which is being discussed.

According to the new secondary education law, after approval by the BNCC, public and private education networks will have up to two years to apply the new rules in schools.

The intention of the Ministry of Education is that the BNCC be approved later this year, but this will depend on the CNE's agenda. The information is from Agência Brasil.
