O Student Financing Fund (Fies) should offer, in 2019, 100,000 vacancies financed by the government. The number of vacancies is in a resolution published in the Official Gazette of the Union. The offer is conditional on the availability of R$500 million from the Ministry of Education's budget.
The decision was taken by the Student Financing Fund Management Committee and is included in the Fies Triennial Plan for the period from 2019 to 2021.

Fies offers financing with special conditions in private higher education for students who meet certain criteria. Among them is the requirement to have scored at least 450 points and they cannot have written to zero in the National Secondary Education Examination (Enem), in one or more editions since 2010.
The new Fies was announced last year. The program now has a modality financed directly by the Union, aimed at students with monthly per capita family income of up to three minimum wages, that is R$ 2,862, in the amounts of 2018. This year, 100,000 vacancies were also made available in this modality.
The other two modalities included in the P-Fies are financed with regional constitutional funds and the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES). The credit risk is assumed by the banks. In 2018, 210 thousand vacancies were made available. Starting next year, P-Fies will not have a defined number of vacancies, supply will be conditioned to demand. The information is from Agência Brasil.
