Founded in 1976, the Paulista State University Julio de Mesquita Filho (Unesp) is one of the most traditional public educational institutions in Brazil. A reference in higher education, it is among the ten best in the country, according to Folha's University Ranking (RUF).
Despite being present in several municipalities throughout the state of São Paulo, residents of other regions, and even other countries, can take courses completely online and free of charge, thanks to Open Unesp.

There are more than 30,000 registered users, 73 course options, 183 e-books and 2104 teaching materials designed to provide students with the experience of building their own knowledge.
At Unesp Aberta, the digital pedagogical resources developed by the university are made available to anyone, completely free of charge. However, a negative point is that they are designed for independent studies, that is, only a few have certification.

The courses are of the open distance modality and have a variable workload, that is, the student can study according to his own pace of studies. In addition, there is no monitoring of tutors.
