The Ministry of Education (MEC) added new criteria for issuing and registering new graduation diplomas. According to information from Agência Brasil, federal higher education institutions will have to report all registered diplomas in the Official Gazette. In addition, public universities and colleges will have to maintain detailed information for consultation on their own websites. The changes were published in the Federal Official Gazette.
According to the MEC, the new measures aim to reduce the risk of fraud and provide more security in the internal procedures of higher education institutions. The new rules will have a period of 180 days to be introduced.

One of the changes is the requirement for a term of responsibility, which must be signed by higher education institutions and deadlines for issuing and registering diplomas. Universities will be responsible for canceling diplomas considered irregular when they detect problems in the issuance and registration procedures. This procedure will also be duly disclosed by the institutions.
The back of the diploma must bear the identification of the sponsor of the higher education institution. The issuance and registration of the first copy of the diploma, the final school transcript and the course completion certificate remain free of charge.
