Air transport in Brazil is very busy, registering almost 100 million passengers in the year 2022. However, access to this service is almost restricted to audiences with greater purchasing power. That is, the largest portion of the population does not have access to the air travel service due to its high cost.
To solve this problem, the Federal Government announced the launch of the “Voa, Brasil” program, which will make airline tickets available for R$ 200.00.

According to the National Civil Aviation Agency (ANAC), the airline sector experienced intense movement in 2022. More than 95 million people enjoyed Brazilian airspace, with around 82.2 million taking domestic flights, that is, domestic trips.
Average price of airline tickets
Despite the good numbers, what is observed is that the scenario could be better and fairer. As a large part of the population survives on just one minimum wage, using this type of service is practically impossible, given the high price of tickets. Also according to ANAC, the average ticket price in the first half of 2022 was R$606.42, an unrealistic amount for the majority of the population.
Tickets at BRL 200
To give more opportunities to those economically disadvantaged, the “Voa, Brasil” program is about to be launched and will allow R$200 tickets to be issued. The program will work with the participation of private companies based on agreements made with the Federal Government.
The idea is that companies make vacancies available that have gone through processes such as abandonment, transfers, cancellations and the like at a lower price, which, by the way, are frequent. To give you an idea, of the tickets sold, on average, 20% are unused, causing flights not to reach their maximum capacity.
As a result, these tickets, known as idle tickets, are passed on at a lower price, with sales intermediated by the government (but without its subsidy). However, it is important to remember that not everyone is entitled to this benefit.
Who is entitled to participate in the program?
According to the Federal Government, the program is intended for civil servants, students and retirees. Public servants who are entitled are those who receive up to R$6,000 a month, and students are only those who are part of the Student Financing Fund (FIES).
