Bulldogs and Shih tzus have cranial malformations, and because of this, they have respiratory health problems. Its breathing is difficult due to the fact that its skull and snout are smaller, reducing the size of its airways. Also, your palate is soft, which injures your windpipe. As a consequence, they present snoring, noisy breathing and may have sleep apnea.

Breath of these dogs

Restricted airways cause noisy breathing. These dogs suffer from respiratory distress and difficulty breathing when exposed to smoke or situations that stress their airways. In rarer cases, breathing is so impaired that they may suffer from heatstroke.

Vision problems

These dogs have large, bulging eyes, as a result, they are at greater risk of infection and injury. If not careful, they can develop corneal ulcers and entropion, a condition in which the eyelid slides into the eye, which can cause irritation and even blindness.

dental problems

The teeth of these dog breeds wear out even faster than those of other breeds. The lower jaw is larger than the upper, impairing the bite and causing dental problems. This also affects chewing and, consequently, digestion of food. These animals are at greater risk for tooth decay, gingivitis, and tartar buildup, which can be painful.

Skin diseases

There is also an increased risk of skin infection in dogs of these breeds due to a condition called "wrinkle infection". It occurs because of the folds of skin on your face and around your lips, which allow moisture and bacteria to accumulate. In addition, these dogs suffer from having more hot spots and developing skin allergies.
