To make such initiatives viable, Minha Casa, Minha Vida Rural will rely on resources from the General Budget of the Union (OGU) and the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS).
This approach seeks to benefit rural populations by providing the most suitable housing conditions and improving housing infrastructure in these regions.
The program targets family farmers, rural workers and families residing in these parts of the country.
The benefited groups are those covered by Law 11.326/2006, such as foresters, aquaculturists, extractivists, fishermen, indigenous peoples, members of communities remaining from rural quilombos and other communities traditional.

For the year 2023, the target for contracting the 'Minha Casa, Minha Vida' Rural program is 30,000 homes. This amount considers both new construction and housing renovations. The goal was distributed among the different federative units of the country.

To participate in the MCMV Rural category 1, proof of income is done through the Family Agriculture Registry (CAF) or Declaration of Eligibility for Pronaf (DAP), within the deadline, for family farmers and other communities covered by such institutes.
For the other beneficiaries, proof of income is made through records in the work card or according to the guidance of the responsible financial agent.
Housing production is directed towards families who are in a situation of cohabitation, residing in areas unsuitable for living or in improvised or rustic homes.
