It is worth mentioning that when you enable this feature in your Google account, it will also be applied in other Google products, including Chrome. So the protection will extend to Chrome extensions and file downloads.
Despite the benefits in terms of security, using 'Enhanced Safe Browsing' comes with a downside: Google will have access to a considerable amount of the user's personal data.
This includes checking incoming links to your Gmail account, as well aslinks clicked, files downloaded, and extensions installed if you also use Chrome.
The company claims that such data is used only to improve user security during the session and that, after a short period of time, it is made completely anonymous.
However, it is important to be aware of this potential privacy risk and decide whether enabling the feature is worth it. If you care about online safety and are willing to accept it, turn on Enhanced Safe Browsing.
Also, if you know of other people who are particularly susceptible to phishing scams andmalware, it may be worth recommending this feature to help protect against these threats.
After all, prevention is always better than cure when it comes to the security of our personal data on the internet.
