Due to his youthful appearance, Denis faces constant misconceptions regarding his age, which has led him to carry his birth certificate with him to prove his real age.

He avoids living in big cities because of his appearance, so he lives on the outskirts of Krasnoyarsk, in western Siberia, a city of 919,000 inhabitants, where he spends his time fishing and hunting.
He expresses weariness at the constant confusion and questioning about his appearance, something he deals with on a regular basis. in the face of offensive and problematic comments (he is often stopped by highway guards when he is driving his car).
He was always the shortest in his class, but initially, it didn't bother him. He was an extremely active child, some would even say hyperactive, capable of doing everything other children did, and he never suffered bullyingbecause of that, having a childhood like any other Russian.
As he grew older, the difference between him and other children his age became more apparent, and by adolescence it seemed as if he had stopped aging.
His high school graduation photo, for example, shows him as a child among young adults, further underscoring this discrepancy.
Although no official diagnosis has been given of his condition, Denis has visited several hospitals, both past and present, accompanied by his parents. He claims to have learned to appreciate his youthful appearance over the years and to turn the negatives into advantages.
“I am very satisfied with the way I look and I learned that it is possible to turn negative points into advantages, depending on the person, courage and ability to organize life”, declared Denis Vashurin.
