In view of this, it is important to make it clear that this movement would directly interfere with the income of Guimarães, since his salary would increase from 56.1 thousand reais to 80.8 thousand reais per month, a readjustment of 44%. However, in addition to receiving this salary, for serving on the board of directors of Caixa's subsidiaries and companies private institutions in which Caixa is a partner, the former president of the bank still received a significant amount, in the amount of 130 thousand reais monthly.
This readjustment proposal was even submitted in different instances of the company's internal sector, since this measure would benefit the boards, and even the sector that takes care of the legal issues of the institution. However, this plan ended up being sidelined, since the Ministry of Economy itself, the portfolio of the government of to which Caixa is subordinated, signaled that it would not approve this proposal with expenses extras.
Finally, it is worth mentioning that within the government, Caixa's argument, and consequently Guimarães, on this subject was that the institution was receiving exorbitant profits, higher than those of BNDES and Banco do Brasil, which, in the opinion of the former president, justified the increase in salary.
