It is true that remote work makes it possible to work anywhere in the world, but this new change is completely unforeseen and different for many people. Imagine, for example, being able to travel on a luxury cruise, with the right to various benefits, and being able to visit different countries while working?
That's exactly what Wells did. He rented an apartment on the MV Narrative, a new cruise ship that has more than 500 accommodations and also has private apartments.
In early December, the young employee gave an interview to CNBC via video call, saying that he was excited to get to know the places that will be part of his routine.
“What excites me most is not having to change my daily routine to go see the world. I'm getting out of this model where you want to go somewhere, pack a bag, get on a flight, rent a room. Now, my condo has a gym, my doctors and dentists, all my trips around the world,” Wells pointed out.
On the cruise, there are 11 different types of residences. The most luxurious one is known as ‘Global’ and has around 1,970 square meters, with a dining room, four bedrooms, a terrace and two bathrooms.
The young employee's apartment is in the 'Discover' category, and is an area of 237 square meters with a folding bed, bathroom and pantry. The rental provides access to the gym, spa, room services and medical services. It's part of Wells' plan to live on the cruise ship for at least three years as he travels the world.
The new purchase cost $300,000 to rent a fairly basic apartment at MV Narrative for 12 years. The ship is being built by Storylines and is expected to be ready by 2025.
