With each passing day, the accumulation of things to do becomes more and more. The daily hustle makes people find it difficult to concentrate on the activity they are carrying out. When we decide to focus solely on one issue, we ignore everything going on around us. Even though people say they can concentrate on several things at once, the brain proves otherwise. Now that you've watched the video, did you get the number of passes right? Well, the answer is 12. Did you manage to reach that number? However, there is one more important detail, the presence of a gorilla. You saw him? If not, watch the video again.
If you don't have the first view, know that you are not alone. This is because your brain has only focused on the task at hand and therefore ignored the gorilla. We call this selective attention.
Selective attention occurs when a person focuses on a specific input for further processing while suppressing it. irrelevant or distracting information, that is, it occurs when your brain allows you to focus only on one task and ignore any kind of of distraction.
The test specifically serves to measure the effectiveness of participants in managing one source of information and ignoring the rest. Also, selective attention is important as it serves as a filter for our brain.
