When we access the Google Play Store, we are faced with a multitude of applications with the most varied functions. Some even play the role of recorder, being capable of recording an entire conversation via telephone call.

In a publication on the platform's user support page, Google reported that "the Application Programming Interface Accessibility API (API) is not designed and cannot be requested for call audio recording remote”. Therefore, all apps that contain the call logging tool will no longer be allowed to remain on the Google Play Store.
This new security policy is expected to come into effect on May 11th. Also, this guidelines update is only for third-party apps contained in the webstore. That is, the native features of the Android device will not be affected.
Google understands that the “audio recording of the call where the person on the other end does not know that the recording is taking place” harms the privacy of that other, since there was no authorization for its use of voice.
However, “if the application is the default dialer on the phone and is also preloaded”, the accessibility function to access call audio is not required. That is, it will not violate the new policy.
It is worth mentioning that Google has been discouraging the use of these apps for some years. As we can see from XDA-Developers, the company put an end to the official API that recorded phone calls in Android 6. After that, the developers looked for other options to restore the function. However, the company continued to block the feature on Android 9 and 10.
