Ranking of the largest companies in the world; Amazon beats Apple

Every year, Fortune Magazine publishes the ranking of the largest companies of the world, being this one, made from the revenues, profits and assets of each company. The result for the year 2021 shows that, for the first time, the American giants were surpassed by the Chinese. Check it out below!

Despite forecasts of a worsening global economic crisis, along with the COVID-19 pandemic, results are improving. With record 19% growth, the 500 companies on this year's list raised $16.1 trillion in revenue.

In the survey carried out by the Fortune Global 500, Walmart won first place, for the 17th time since 1995, being the 9th consecutive year. In the list, Amazon occupies the second place in the revenue ranking, surpassing Apple, which occupies the seventh place. Below you can see the 10 companies that earned the most:

  1. Walmart (US) – $572.8 million
  2. Amazon (US) – $469.8 million
  3. State Grid (China) – $460.6 million
  4. China National Petroleum – $411.7 million
  5. Sinopec Group – US$401.3 million
  6. Saudi Aramco (Saudi Arabia) – US$400.4 million
  7. Apple (US) – $365.8 million
  8. Volkswagen (Germany) – $295.8 million
  9. China State Construction Engineering (China) – $293.7 million
  10. CVS Health (US) – $292.1 million

However, when it comes to profit, Saudi Aramco leads with US$ 105.4 million, followed by Apple, which profited US$ 94.7 million. Amazon appears in 14th place with a profit of US$ 33.4 million.

Brazilian companies

Altogether, in this ranking, only 7 Brazilian companies were mentioned. One of them being Vale, in the 231st position, with revenues of US$ 55.6 million and US$ 22.4 million in profit. Another company that also appears on the list is Petrobras, with a better position than Vale, 128th, whose revenue is US$84 billion and profit of US$19.9 billion.
