The Journal of Clinical Psychiatry portal published a study that sought to answer the following question: At what age do we find meaning in life?
As mentioned earlier, such a quest directly depends on your physical and mental health. It is a long and gradual construction that is formed and broken down throughout life. According to experts, the more you look, the harder it is to find that meaning. Therefore, it usually appears when you least look for it – which is the moment when you are totally ready for it.
There is no ready-made formula for finding the meaning of life, as this can vary from person to person. To understand it, it is necessary to ask yourself questions about various issues, such as: how do I see myself in the future? What do I want for my life? What are my goals? From the moment you understand these internal questions, it becomes easier for you to find your meaning.
According to the study that encompasses the research “Meaning of life and its relationship with physical, mental and cognitive”, made by 8 scientists, from the age of 60 we begin to really understand our existence. Through a questionnaire answered by volunteers ranging from 20 to 100 years old, it was possible to conclude that the existence of this meaning is linked to physical and mental well-being.
From the moment you consolidate your trajectory – forming a family, having a established career – the search for meaning ends up decreasing and the meaning of life increases consequently. Therefore, it was possible to conclude that, from the age of 60, when the individual is consolidated and with several goals completed, it is easier to find the meaning of life.
