We all have preferences: some people don't eat when the food is cold at all, while others don't care that much. But did you know that food temperature isn't just a matter of preferences?

According to the CDC, the foods Cold and hot foods must be at their respective temperatures, completely intact, for food safety purposes for those who will eat the food.

It is even recommended by the government agency to use a food thermometer to ensure that your order has arrived at an acceptable temperature.

We know that during the pandemic, people have started ordering more food delivery at home. However, The Food Institute reported that one of the top complaints from customers was that the food they ordered did not arrive hot or fresh.

To avoid this kind of situation, how about you go pick up your food on the spot yourself?

How do I keep my food warm on the way home?

An important way to keep your food warm is to separate it from other foods that are cold. Let's give you an example: if you buy a hamburger, a portion of potatoes, soda and ice cream, it's a lot smarter, instead of keeping them all together, separating the hot from the cold, so that both preserve their temperature.

This is because heat is easily transferred from hot to cold foods when items are packed together or placed next to each other.

Therefore, if you do not correctly separate each of the items and do not leave a certain amount of space between them, you will be causing your cold food to be heated by the hot one, and vice versa. The CDC supports the rule that cold foods should not be shipped with hot foods.

If you want to keep your fast food hot, it is recommended to buy an insulated container that retains heat, which can be very useful when taking your snack home. And if you're transporting your food in the car, it's a good idea to keep the air conditioning turned off to avoid accidentally cooling all of your food.
