This last Wednesday (5), the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) issued an alert after identifying new cases of adulteration and falsification of the drug Botox, also known as botulinum toxin, which is widely used in aesthetic procedures.
According to the agency, counterfeit products were seized at ports and airports, having been shipped from abroad. The shipments contained false descriptions of contents, tampered with expiry dates and bottles with Turkish inscriptions.

The company responsible for registering the seized Botox, Allergan Produtos FarmacĂȘuticos, confirmed to Anvisa that the original batch was supposed to be marketed only in Turkey and the expiry date would end in December 2023.
Batch C6835C3, informed by the company, was not officially imported into Brazil. On the packaging of the seized counterfeit products there was an expiration date of 12/2024, that is, one year after the original one informed by Allergan. lots of botoxIrregular records were prohibited from being marketed or distributed.
Anvisa recommends to health professionals and the general population that, when identifying products counterfeit, do not use them and immediately notify the agency through the service channels available.
