Of course, at this moment, the return comes with a series of preventive measures. In most cases, there is a limit to the number of students and staff that can occupy the schools. Hand hygiene and the use of masks remain mandatory, and social distancing is also adopted.
Despite the numbers, all of Brazil should attend back to school between August and September. Only Bahia and Roraima have not defined an exact timetable for the matter. The data was released by the Estadão.
Since March 2020, students have been out of the classroom, following distance learning. The country is one of the only ones in the world that continues with paralyzed education. This is due to the aggravation of the pandemic and the government's difficulty in dealing with the issue seriously.
Experts criticize governments for prioritizing the opening of shops, bars and churches before schools. The Ministry of Education (MEC) itself has been considered silent on the subject. From the beginning, there was much turmoil and little federal action to remedy the spread of the disease and its consequences.
While in Roraima and Bahia the return to school should take a while, in São Paulo the reality is different. The São Paulo government has already announced that schools should receive 100% of students in August. That's because the state will complete vaccination of the adult population in September. Young people from the age of 12 must receive the immunization until the end of the year.
Of the Brazilian capitals, only 13 have partially returned to face-to-face activities so far. Among those who opted for remote activities, only four are expected to return in August. Another three return to face-to-face meetings in September. The remainder remains unexpected to resume.
The capital of Minas Gerais only released early childhood education in May, after almost a year of closed daycare centers. The other classes gradually return until the 5th of August.
The Ceará education network should adopt the return in August, according to Estadão. The State of Ceará will implement a diagnostic system to guarantee the safety and analysis of teaching.
The partnership takes place between the government and the State University of Ceará (UECE). The application follows large-scale diagnostic metrics, such as those from the MEC. It should point out the damage caused so far to local education. However, it should serve as a reference for the country.
Several experts point to serious sequelae in Brazilian education. They all come from poor management and the inevitable consequences brought by the pandemic.
